Laboratory Outreach Services: Complementing, Not Competing

Strengthening Community-Based Laboratories through Outreach Support

The hospital laboratory is one of the most impactful levers in health care to drive out waste and reduce the total cost of care. Recognizing the value of the laboratory, Mayo Medical Laboratories continues to support health systems across the United States in developing their laboratory outreach programs to keep patient samples within their local communities. Laboratory outreach programs provide an effective platform for physician integration, and can be a major revenue source within a hospital or health system. Leveraging the laboratory to position them as centers of excellence for the surrounding communities can increase hospital revenue, decrease costs, and most importantly, improve patient care.

Leveraging the Laboratory

This annual comprehensive conference discusses the role of outreach in an effort to bring new forms of value to care models, and it identifies the issues facing hospital leadership, physicians, and caregivers that are essential for laboratories to demonstrate value toward the total cost of care. September 24-25, 2019 Nashville, Tennessee
