Routine CT scans - part of the standard of care for patients with diffuse large B cell lymphoma after treatment with immunochemotherapy - may be unnecessary.

In a retrospective study, post-treatment surveillance scanning detected relapses prior to clinical manifestations in only eight of 537 (1.5%) patients, Carrie Thompson, M.D., a hematologist at the Mayo Clinic, and colleagues reported at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in Chicago last week.
