Cardiovascular surgery is performed under the most modern conditions. Note the pass-through window, right, from the “clean” area. All instruments and supplies come from the sterile area to the operating suite and out the other side after use.
Infection is a particularly significant potential problem in orthopedic surgery. Orthopedic suites are equipped with laminar flow air systems. Sterile air comes in via the wall to the left and is drawn out to the right. Nothing comes between the sterile air and the patient.
