James Stubbs, M.D., Elected President of American Board of Pathology

James R. Stubbs, M.D., Chair of the Division of Transfusion Medicine in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, has been elected President of the American Board of Pathology (ABP).

Dr. Stubbs has played an active role in the ABP for many years. In 2001, he was named a member of the organization’s Test Development and Advisory Committee (TDAC) for Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine (BB/TM), and in 2009, he assumed the position of chair of the BB/TM TDAC. He was appointed a trustee in 2009 and recently served as treasurer. Dr. Stubbs is also a member of the ABP’s Executive Committee, served as chair of the Finance Committee, chair of the Communications Task Force, and is a member of the Committees on Examinations and Bylaws for the organization.

About the American Board of Pathology
The mission of the ABP, as a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties, is to promote the field of pathology and the continuing competency of practicing pathologists.

The ABP accomplishes its mission by establishing certification and maintenance of certification standards, assessing the qualifications of those seeking to obtain voluntary certification in the specialty of pathology, and conducting voluntary primary and subspecialty certification examinations and awarding certificates to successful candidates.
