Overview

Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) is the most common hospital-acquired infection (also seen in the community) and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Recurrent C. difficile continues to be a major management challenge.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss changing epidemiology of C. difficile infection.
  • List management options for primary, recurrent, and severe C. difficile infection.
  • Cite evidence and outcomes from fecal microbiota transplantation.

Intended Audience

This program is appropriate for clinicians, pathologists, medical technologists, nurses, pharmacists, and other allied health staff.
